Your subject says Outlook Express and body text says Outlook. What you describe
happens in OE when you have messages grouped by conversation, the best way to
deal with a crowded inbox. To get out of it when you're looking at the list,
hit alt V for view, the current view submenu comes up, right arrow once and
then down arrow to group messages by conversation on which you enter. Then all
your troubles will go away!
