Reaper is cheaper than Sonar. But yes it's a good program if you are a professional musician. Reaper is probably good for hobbyist/amateur musicians. Also unlike the Sonar trial version you can trial Reaper as long as you want (it's actually 30 days but doesn't expire in terms of usage) whereas Sonar trial expires in 30 days and that's it; you would have to buy the program to continue using it. Anyway to each their own and thanks for the recommendation David.

Hi how are you? If you're looking for recording software to record music, then
i'd like to suggest sonar. This is a multi track music recording package that
you can grow with and you will need some other things but it depends on how you
want to record. If you want to record using midi instrumentation, you can do
that but if you want to record using audio, then you can do that as well.
You'll need the following, keyboard, mixer, and you'll also need a professional
sound card. I hope that this information is helpful to you? Enjoy.

   Subject: Sound recording sofware

   Hi, List,
I was wondering if there is a sound recording software where I could
record split tracks? For example a base track, then a guitar track ans so on.
I would like to record some tracks for a music CD in our band.
