Hi. the accent sa hasn't been supported properly since jaws 5.0. I have tried the work arounds that fs suggested, and none of them work. jaws does not control the rate when spelling, and it also does not indicate capital letters by changing pitch. I have contacted fs concerning this problem many times, and finally they said that they might release the driver for someone else to fix.
they still haven't done this to my knowledge however.
that last version of jaws that worked properly in many cases was version 4.51 in my opinion.

Subject: Hardware devices

Just before I ask what some might think is a dum question here is all I
could find on this subject.
Bulletin Type: FAQ

Date Posted: 12/30/2003

Product Name: JAWS

Version: 5.0 plus

Category: Synthesizer

Question:

Supported Synthesizers

Answer:

The following is a list of synthesizers tested for and supported by JAWS
for Windows:

Eloquence for JFW
Accent PC
Accent SA
Apollo 2
Artic 215
Audapter
Braille 'n Speak
DECtalk Access32 Software
DECtalk Express
DECtalk PC/Express
Doubletalk LT
Doubletalk LT/SSIL
Doubletalk PC
FlexTalk Software
Infovox
Keynote Multi Media Software
Keynote Hardware/SSIL
Reading Edge
Microsoft Text-to-Speech SAPI 4
Multi Voice
Text Assist/Sound Blaster
SAPI 5
Sounding Board
Tripple Talk PCI
Tripple Talk USB
Now my audaptor is listed and works with window eyes but jaws claims to
support it and I can not find it any where. So how can I get this
device to work.
Also a while back I read on this list about problems using a accent sa
with jaws on windows xp.
Is this still an issue.
Any help on this subject would be graitly apreshated. The web site was
not helpful at all.
I mean I can understand why the sounding board might not be listed after
all it does need a dos driver but the audapter is a serial device.
Thanks much!
