More thoughts on this: Given how cheap the external hard drives are these days (you can get a 250 GB drive for less than $130), I'd just get a few of these and back up your C drive to them. A lot of computer BIOS systems now support booting from external hard drives, which in theory anyhow, simplifies switchover to a working drive, especially if your original bootable system drive is itself an external. USB 2 drives might be a bit slow as primary system hard drives. So I'd suggest using the ESATA drives for bootable hard drives if you decide to go this route. Plus, you get about six times the storage on a single-layer DVD (4.7 GB Vs. 800 MB for CD). Still though, particularly if you're running Vista, this may not be enough for the entire operating system, applications, and software files on a complete hard drive backup. If you really want to be safe, get a blu-ray disc writer. This will give you 50 GB of space. But you'll also have much less in your wallet as well. :-) Tom Hesley -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Sabaruddin Isa Sent: Saturday, November 08, 2008 8:52 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Hard disk backup programs Sorry i mean dvd.
