In my experience, it is. Until I installed JAB over a set of Java updates a year or two ago, I was unable to navigate Amazon comfortably. Java is needed for any number of websites. The standard advice is to reinstall JAB over any new Java update. For that purpose, I keep a copy of the executable file around so I don't have to go to the Java website to retrieve it every time.
