hi Yardbird for whatever reason my auto correct program will not let me write your name as one word sorry about this. I did not realize it was splitting it in to two words. the outlook spell checker tends to do the same thing. Your name is in fact two words so the spell checkers think it should be split up. second I have checked on three computers and it is in fact here. Arrow to general. Now tab you keep tabbing tell you find a option called check for new versions of win amp at start up. This will be a check box. Uncheck this check box and you will be good to go. Sorry about the name thing. When and if I buy this program your name will be the first to go in to the dictionary. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Yardbird Sent: Monday, January 21, 2008 11:26 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Getting around Winamp Update freeze-out Hi Mr. Grims Bee, No, it's not in my Preferences menu under General, sorry to say. It is in the general preferences section. Hope that helps. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Yardbird Sent: Monday, January 21, 2008 9:18 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Getting around Winamp Update freeze-out I just launched Winamp to look at Preferences. I'm sorry to say that I can't find a way to turn off the update notices. it's not under General options nor the other categories in the Preferences menu, either. Also, I noticed that Jaws isn't providing all the accessibility in the Preference menu that I assumed it was, because I think I have the correct scripts for Winamp. The reason I'm saying this is because, wondering why most of the listed options didn't seem to have ways to get into them or adjust them, I switched to the Jaws cursor to explore the menu. And I frequently heard "quarter circle, followed by their state, checked or unchecked," which I imagine this means there are radio buttons or check boxes associated with a lot of the items and I'm not seem them or the options they represent. Hmm.
