Garbled Text In Outlook Express Replies

When I type a reply in Outlook Express, version 6 something, using
JAWS 6 on an XP Home system, the text of my response is apparently
mixed up in the text of the message to which I am replying. When
sent, the message looks fine to the recipient, but it's difficult to
edit during typing of the message. I don't recall such a problem in
JAWS 5. Can anyone suggest a likely solution? I have tried maximizing
the window and refreshing the screen to little avail.
