I am inclined to drop official support for JAWS 4.51 because it is significantly different from JAWS 5, 6, and 7 and is, as far as I know, not used by many. However, I don't want to make this kind of decision arbitrarily. I am therefore asking that individuals who have a reason to use JAWS 4.51 with Skype scripts write to me. I do not need people who are OK with the dropping of this support to write, only those who would be seriously inconvenienced by such a move. I currently know of exactly one person who wishes to use Skype with JAWS 4.51 and no one who wants to use it with anything older.
This question arises now, by the way, because I am considering how to make JAWS name a number of fields correctly. There is a new and more convenient system for doing this in JAWS 5.0 and beyond that does not exist in JAWS 4.51 and older.
