Best wishes, Bryan Garaventa Accessibility Engineer SSB + BART Group bryan@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.ssbtechnologies.com/ ----- Original Message ----- From: Tim Springer Sent: Wednesday, March 01, 2006 5:24 PM Subject: Job Postings Everybody- As you all know over the last few months we have all been pulling to complete the joining of SSB and BART Group into one organization. As part of that we have been talking to all our clients, discussing with them our AMP offering and talking about how to work more closely with them on accessibility. The good news is that our clients have listened and we are generating a huge amount of interest in the market. The great news is that this has translated into larger and longer projects for us and bigger engagements. The down side of that is we have been steadily running out of people that are available to do work and are basically at capacity now. Pretty much on every front we could use additional, qualified resources that we can apply to current projects. Given that, I wanted to give everyone in the company an overview of the available positions and ask that you reach out to friends, old co-workers, ex-employees, ex-girlfriends, whatever, to see if there is any interest in someone with a qualified position with the company. Generally speaking we are looking for the following general skill set: a.. 3+ years experience working in technical consulting position. b.. Technical familiarity with either a.. Web based technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash, PDF, .Net and electronic document creation and publishing processes b.. Software based UI technologies including MFC, JFC and related technologies including JAWS Scripting c.. Multimedia and streaming video c.. Demonstrably exceptional written and verbal skills d.. Technical familiarity with software development lifecycle and systems integration processes e.. BS or relevant degree in computer programming or management information systems a.. Familiarity with relevant accessibility standards including WCAG, Section 508 and related standards is a plus but not required b.. Day-to-day familiarity with assistive technologies including JAWS, Window-Eyes, Dragon Dictate, MAGic and / or ZoomText More or less of the skill set would result in a better or worse match with the company. It doesn't have to be a full match but the more things that match the more flexible a set of positions would be available. Generally speaking we have four roles available: Web Accessibility Consultant - Provides general web accessibility consulting. This would include standards development and maintenance, execution of the assessment methodology, adjudication of assistive technology testing and training development and maintenance. This is the most "general" roll that we currently have and we have probably two or three positions available that would utilize it. Software Accessibility Consultant - Like the web but generally focused on Java and Windows based applications. Ideally, this person would also need to have a fair degree of experience with JAWS scripting. Accessibility Tester - This role focuses on testing and evaluating applications for usability in assistive technology and against our standard evaluation test set. This role would focus on day-to-day testing of system for compliance. While not a hard requirement, this position prefers a high familiarity with assistive technology and its day-to-day use over a long period of time. Media Specialist - This role focuses on accessibility of multimedia and streaming media applications. Currently, we don't really have this well developed internally so this person would both be working on projects and developing our methodology and internal training all at once. We have two positions around this type of stuff that likely will be available shortly. In terms of searching I would recommend sending out a notice for the above job descriptions to people that you now, relevant e-mail lists, blogs or whatever you think makes sense. I will leave it to each of you to decide what to send but generally you should be able to just send out a sub-set of this e-mail with a note. If a person is interested they should send their resumes to jobs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word "Accessibility Consultant" in the subject line. At this point we are looking to collect resumes and conduct an initial screen of candidates. Once we have gotten through that process we will then triage resumes and then setup phone interviews and onsite interviews. For any resumes that you work to send through we will keep you dutifully apprised of the status of things. We are looking to do the hiring at the end of this month and throughout April - so the positions are all near term hires.
