Or couldn't a macro just be made to perform this function?

Subject: Formatting in Word, Without Using Tabs

Hello, Ray and list,

You might want to follow these steps in order for you to accomplish
formatting a document in word without using tabs.

Note: The following instructions works with bulleted or numbered
lists. I'll discuss paragraphs in the next section.

Bulleted or numbered lists

1. Go to microsoft word.

2. Press Alt O to go to the format menu.

3. Look for the item called "bullets and numbering" and press enter on it.
Note: You can just press the letter n for that.

4. You'll find 4 tab pages, which are "bulleted tab", "numbered tab",
"outline numbered tab", and "list styles tab". You can go on there and
choose whatever tabbed page you need/want. Since Ray's client will
most likely use numbered lists, I'll assume "numbered tab" will be the
one chosen.

5. From the list of pages, press tab once and you'll land on the list
of number style choices such as "1. 2. 3. button", "A. B. C. button",
etc.

6. Since the trainor wants the number to be indented by 2 inches from
the left margin, press tab again for the "customize button".

7. Press enter or spacebar to activate it.

8. Go to the edit spinbox item that says "indent at".

9. You can look for the number 2 or just type it in there.

10. Press the "okay button" for the changes to be saved.

Paragraph

1. Go to Microsoft word.

2. Select the text that you want to be formatted.

3. Press Alt O for the format menu.

4. Look for the item called "paragraph" and press enter on it.
Note: You can just press the letter p for that.
5. You'll find 2 tab pages there, which are "indents and spacing tab"
and "line and page breaks tab". What we need is the "indents and
spacing tab".

6. Press tab til you find a combo box labeled as "special", and choose
"first line".
Note: Choosing that item means that you want Microsoft word to indent
the first line of the paragraph.

7. Press tab again til you find the edit spin box that says "by", and
look for or type the number of inches you want the first line to be
indented to.

8. Press the "okay button" for the changes to be saved.

Feel free to contact me off list if you have further questions and I
will be more than willing to help you. My contact information is at
the bottom of this email.

HTH,

Hannah Mae
