I think the focus is a loud display. a good display but a loud one. I
suspect the noise is the dots moving up and down.
you could try changing the dot firmness to see if that helps.
This is mostlikely not a driver issue.

Subject: Focus 40 display noise

Greetings. I'm using a new Focus 40 display with JAWS on my work
computer. I just got the Focus display yesterday. I've noticed a
clicking noise, like a single press of a typewriter key, each time I
press a hardware button on the display, be it a navigation button, the
Whiz Wheels, or a routing key. I thought it might have to do with
drivers from the HumanWare Brailliant 40 display I had on my computer
at one time, since the Brailliant always made the clicking sound when
a navigation or routing key was pressed, however a coworker today
mentioned to me that she's heard of that clicking noise happening with
the FS Focus displays as well. Any ideas where this noise may be
coming from, be it from the Focus or the Brailliant drivers that I
still have on my system? I'm using JAWS 9 on a Windows XP machine.
I've looked through the Braille Display settings in the Options menu
of the JAWS window and can't find any reference to making a noise when
a hardware button is pressed. I also know that the noise i'm hearing
is not coming from the display itself. The display makes a definite
noise when the refreshable dots pop up and down, but this typewriter
noise can be heard through the computer's soundcard.

Sincerely,
Wayne
