To find the IP address--192.168.what?

1. Go to Run, windows key plus r
2. type cmd and press enter to get to what used to be the DOS prompt.
3. Type cd\ (c d backslash) to get to the c prompt
4. Type ipconfig and press enter.
5. Among the information returned will be the default gateway, which is your IP address. I think you ignore the numbers following the last period.
6. To get back to windows, type exit.

Some routers have slightly different IP addresses try 196.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.0.

Hi,

The fastest and technical way is:

From Internet Explorer (or any browser) window, go to address bar then type 192.168.0.1. You should hopefully land at the webpage about your DSL/cable modem/routerr. The upstream and downstream is the actual Internet connection speed (most likely the upstream speed, the speed at which your computer connects to the Internet).

Cheers,

Joseph

Howdy,

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know a good way to figure out internet speed? There are times when I'd like to figure out how fast things are coming in or downloading from a couple of different places, including my home.

If you guys know of a way, let me know.
