Dave,

I know you're expressing generosity. That said, may I please explain that I've
used jaws since Version 3 point something, over many years, and my head is
crammed with a zillion Jaws commands to send to my fingers for use on many,
many occasions. Please do not think I have never trained on Jaws nor consulted
its help documentation. Thank you very much. I just happen never to have heard
of this particular trick. I have other ways to skip over things when I have the
presence of mind and know the environment. Otherwise, I could never help
support Jeff Bezos's quart early bottom line for Amazon, or find my way around
one of the more complicated New York Times pages, or a lot of other things. I
just never happen to have had a reason to want to skip a few lines while using
Say All. In fact, and May I emphasize this politely, please. I generally don't
read a short mailing list post in Say All mode, but tend rather to down arrow
through it. So I was completely at a loss to be told to stop complaining and
use the shift key. If you see what I mean. If you don't, please alert me and
I'll try to rephrase that in yet a more comprehensible way.

thanks very much.

Joel,

I'm glad you were able to use this feature of JAWS. There are many more
features that you might find useful, but I won't try to list them all here.
Just browse through the JAWS documentation and help files.

Why should I have to go study the Jaws docuemtnation? Why don't you just
write a full English sentence! Thank you! Thank you!

  Joel,

It's all in the JAWS documentation. If you use Say all mode, as Adrian
attests, the Right Shift key will skip lines as it reads.

  Just give it a try.

    Laura,

That's perfectly fine and in keeping with standard E-Mail practices. I can
easily skip over this information if I need to.

      Laura,

No offense intended, but your email sig, below your message is a *lot* of
lines to have to listen through with Jaws while waiting to hear just the
headers of the message to which you're responding. Please, nobody tell me to
hit escape or delete when I see Laura's name in my Inbox. What if I don't hate
her? Okay? So let's forget that old saw. Thank you, beloved but sometimes
short-fused folks.

The problem with that version, however, is since it's the mobile version,
most of the applications are not available in it. I'd rather use Twitter.

I prefer the accessible Facebook site, which seems to work pretty well
with JAWS. It is much easier to navigate than the regular Facebook site.

Do you use it Laura? Does it work better for you than the regular,
more graphical, site? I might have heard about it on this or another list, but
at the time it filtered through that part of my brain that isn't being used
unless it is really needed. <grin>

          Hi all,

Has anyone else tried the accessible version of Facebook's site. You
can find it at: http://m.facebook.com
As more people have asked in training about Facebook I've been trying
to come up with instructions and quick ways to get places and such. I decided
to read their help center to see if they mentioned anything about screen
readers and sure enough they did! I sent this link on to a former client
yesterday who said she'd been struggling with Facebook for weeks. I had a note
back from her already this morning saying that she was able to find everything
she'd been looking for on the regular site using this accessible version. It
would be interesting to hear other feedback on this.
