OK, I found the answer. It was burried under the tools/options/edit tab.
There is a check box and it is called auto complete. Probably why I couldn't
find it. I was using the wrong terminology.
But now I have unchecked the box and the chatter has stopped.

Hi, Is there a way to turn off the type ahead or what ever it is called in
excel 2003.
I am filling in a spreadsheet with similar information and as I start to type
in the new data excel starts filling in the cel with the last information and
of course jaws starts reading it. I am finding it anoying and would like to
stop the chatter.
Any help is appreciated
