Alan,
If you do that, you'll copy the formula and paste the formula. What we're
describing here is copying the result of a formula and pasting just the
result.

Of course these means are fine, but why not highlight the cell, hit f2 and
then just copy the contents of the cell, hit Escape to close the cell, then
go to the cell you wish to paste the data into, hit F2 again to open and
paste, then hit Escape again to close that cell?
