If it were me, and I'm glad it isn't, I'd be asking how the employer knows the software won't work with JAWS. It does sound like you were getting the brush-off. It's up to you if and how you want to persue this. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Joseph Lee Sent: Thursday, February 14, 2008 10:57 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Employment Hi Patty, Jennifer and list, Well, here's the explanation of what "scripting" means: JAWS scripting means creating what's called scripts for an application so that JAWS can effectively work with it. It is like a little program on behalf of JAWS. It gathers information displayed on the program's screen and tells JAWS what to do. I think the response should not be treated as dismissal, but more towards unavailability of JAWS to work with the software in question. Not too long ago, there was an article I read in the newspaper about this company. They are based in Arizona, and the article said that they cater to disabled workers. The man in the article was blind, and he worked for this company. I don't understand why you received that response. >Jen > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Patricia Davis > To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Sent: Thursday, February 14, 2008 8:47 AM > Subject: Employment > Hi Everyone. > I don't think this is the right venue for my question/request but I'm going to post the question anyway in the hopes that someone can point me in the right direction. > I have been looking for a job and came across this company called Arise (Arise.com), a home-based customer service type company. Right now we do not have any applications scripted for Jaws.
