I love them and find them very responsiveness. Quite happy here. Peter -------------------------------------------------- From: "CrisMunoz54" <crismunoz54@xxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, August 26, 2008 10:00 PM To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: RE: Early Impressions of the New JAWS 10
I prefer the way the real speak voices sound much more than eloquence, but at least right now, with the sluggishness and choppiness I can't see howthey can be used for more than short periods at a time. I'm still trying tofigure out the dictionary manager and different language settings forcertain words and so on too. I'm trying to get certain words spoken in their corresponding languages like before and it's just not happening. I've got toplay with it a little more I suppose.I wonder if the real speak voices are a beta version too or if they're a oneshot deal and what we've downloaded is the best they'll be? I sort of was led to believe hearing the pod cast they were designed to perhaps replace the eloquence synthesizer some day. I am choosing not touse them because of their sluggishness. Even the nuance SAPI 5 voices seemto be to me more responsive.----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Hallsworth" <christopherhallsworth71@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, August 26, 2008 2:36 AM Subject: Early Impressions of the New JAWS 10Hi all, I wish to tell you my early impressions of JAWS 10. It seems very good so far, and I'm liking the new features, for example autoforms mode and RealSpeak Solo Direct support. However, I have some comments as well. 1. RealSpeak Solo Direct: it seems to be sluggish when I type. Is this normal behaviour of RealSpeak, or is this a beta issue and therefore should be reported. This sluggishness does not happen with Eloquence.2. Confusion surrounding "Run JAWS with No Speech" check box: according tothe help, it said that the option has been removed from the advanced options dialogue box in Configuration Manager. I in fact do not recall ever seeing a "Run JAWS with No Speech" option anywhere in Configuration Manager. What I do see though is the "Sleep Mode Enable" check box. Perhaps I'm missing something, but how does one silence JAWS 10 for programmes like OpenBook? Or is this sleep mode option only been removedfrom default.jcf. If so, this makes sense, as who would want JAWS to go tosleep for all applications, apart from Braille-only users or maybe Magic users. 3. Problem starting earlier versions of JAWS: I have JAWS 9.0.2169 installed on this system. Since installing JAWS 10 I've only been able toswitch to JAWS 9 about once or twice, the other times it sort of loads butI don't get any feedback. Has anyone else experienced this problem?Otherwise, I think that's all the comments for now. I look forward to yourcomments and feedback.
