Good morning Wendy,
The following page from the Freedom Scientific site explains the
requirements and recommendations to run JAWS:

You can make the necessary changes on the Settings tab of the Display
Properties dialog in your Control Panel.
1. Go to Start > Control Panel.
2. Select Display
3. Select the Settings tab.
4. Make the desired changes and press enter on the Ok button.
5. You may be asked if you want to keep the new settings, confirm the
changes. Choose Yes.
