i hardly think recommending a 30 to 60 dollar video card is over doing it
with respect to video cards and their importance in the system and its
overall performance.

obviously being blind we do not need the best, thats why i never
recommended the 9700, the 9800, and the newest stuff where they changed
the cards to a new modelling system.
thinknewest A T I is 800 xp.

those are the choices of gamers, not the 9000 to 9600.

though the 9600 is decent for games that do not heavily tax the system.
so it might be a good choice for a blind person sharing with a sighted
person who likes games.
pro version is about 140 dollars.

also consider the 7000 or 7500 cost over 25 what i recommend is not muchmore.

walt i personally do not have an A T I card, so can only say that when i
helped a friend build a system we never had those issues.

[we went with the 9000 pro which has 400 mhz ram dak memory in a 64 meg
configuration. ]

that may be due to the fact we bought the o e m version of the card and
that may explain the lack of other software that caused issues.

still thanks for the tip, may come in handi if i am helping somebody with a
t i issues.

realize this as well, to some degree del decides what gets installed on the
system.
so complain if you have issues to del.

p s A T I often goes back and upgrades older video cards, usually with
faster memory.
memory speed and 2 d video performance are directly related.
some video cards now have memory speeds over 800 mhz.
so buy the card with faster memory and do not be suckerred in by cards with
256 meg of ram.
