George and All,

I may be able to use the delete key in the num pad to delete an
opened message again. I had "read all messages in plain text" checked
as it was in Win 98 se. I unchecked it and, voila!, so far, so good.

Unchecking read all messages in plain text may also have solved a
major problem I was having. If I did a Control-Shift-F for Advanced
Find in OE 6.0 and hit enter in the message list view, XP bonged at
me, the message was not read. The message body showed up when I
routed JAWS to PC, but I wasn't placed in the message body. However,
the status of the message changed from unread to read.

Right afterwards, I noticed that I had lost Expanded and
Collapsed, but I double checked group by conversation, and it had
gotten unchecked somehow.

    I haven't re-booted and don't know what I'll find when I do, but,
for now, OE is acting like it did on the 98 se machine.

Hi:
Didn't know that, I have always used plain text for OE, and the delete
key
worked in 98(SE), just after I went to XP it no longer works.

In an open message, the delete key works if you are reading in HTML
format
but
if reading in plain text--you have to use control-delete when an in an
open
message--with Jaws 6.0 and above at least and windows XP/SP-2.

Actually the only time that the delete key is to work is when the
message is
not open. When there is nothing running but outlook express and I want
to
delete an open message I need to use control d. If the message is not
open
then the delete key works. I think this might be because the delete
key is a
specific windows control key and not an application specific key
stroke.
JAWS has nmade it possible to use the delete key where windows alone
does
not.
