I do not know of the speakers of which you speak.  Four years ago I bought 
some Labtech speakers model 424 from Office Depot, and they were excellent 
and only cost $49.  They turned my computer into a hifi stereo sounding 
platform.  I could also plug in my headphones into the speakers and cause 
silence in the room, but beautiful sounds in my ears.
