Just a few additions to make this work really well:
1. before exiting the Verbosity menu, you also need to arrow down to Set
Monitor cells and press the spacebar.
2. You can set your spreadsheet to read row titles in the same way.
3. When you have your spreadsheet set to read rows and columns or other
verbosity settings in the way you want them, go to the Configuration Manager
and pdress Ctrl-S to save your settings and exit the Configuration Manager.
If you do that, your settings will be there every time you open your
spreadsheet. Otherwise you will have to reset all this stuff each time you
use the spreadsheet.

Place the PC cursor in the row where the titles are.
In verbosity, go to set title reading and hit the spacebar till it says
'column titles'
arrow down to 'set title reading to row range'. If JFW doesn't speak the
row where your cursor is, hit spacebar and it should.
Exit verbosity and you should be able to hear each column title as you move
to a cell in that column.
