I'm using Jaws 9 with the latest (Oct4 update. I just pressed the Alt key
while composing this message and it did indeed bring up the ribbon toolbar,
but if I'm in a message that I am reading nothing happens when I press the
Alt key.

Thanks,

Russell

I'm having trouble getting to the ribbon from within an email message.
Pressing the Alt key does nothing. If I route the Jaws cursor and start at
the top of the message window I can see the ribbon items, such as action,
but clicking on it does nothing. Is there a trick to get to the ribbon from
within an email message?

Thanks,

Russell

There is a thing where you can view the message in the default browser like
IE. Just open the message, go to the message ribbon, down arrow and right
arrow till you get to "other actions submenu button" Hit enter on the button
and down arrow to "view in browser" and hit enter on it. There is probably a
shortcut for that but I don't really know what it is. If your interested, I
can attempt to find it somewhere. I don't really mind the view/editor being
Word. Sometimes in the emails I have issues. Specially emails I get from
www.mlb.com. I get 3 or 4 newsletters from a baseball team I like and Word
doesn't seem to be able to handle them very well. I'm sure I will figure it
out sometime soon here. I do have only the trial and will eventually have to
revert back to office xp but figured 2007 was worth a try.

Sad to say 2k7 does not have these options.

    I am using outlook 2003.

If I go into the tools menu and select options, and shift tab once and hear
preferences and arrow over until I hear mail formatting and tab down to the
following.

Use word to edit email messages I have this box unchecked.

If I tab down again I hear Use word to read rich text documents I also have
this one unchecked.

Maybe this will help you if you have these unchecked.

If you change these settings you might have to close outlook and reopen it
to have these settings take affect.

Best Robert

Hi,

This because outlook 2007 now uses the word as the editer for htm;l
messages. HTH.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for that. I tried it and it did make things a bit better.I can read
the messages now except it seems that there are multiple columns and Jaws
reads the first line of each column. Very strange as these are messages that
read fine in Outlook 2003.

Thanks for any other suggestions,

Russell

Try this

With outlook opened open jaws configuration manager

Select text processing

Tab down until you find enhanced edit support.

This should be unchecked.

Then press ok and control s to save changes and close configuration manager.

Close outlook and reopen it and give it a try.

Best Robert

I wonder if that is a virtual buffer issue?

                Hi everyone,

I just installed Office 2007 last night-upgraded from Office
2003.

The Jaws 9 beta won't read any email messages that are
composed in HTML format. If I route the Jaws cursor into the message I can
see that there is text in the message, but when I try to read it I just get
"blank" blank".

Is there anything I need to change to have these HTML
messages read correctly?

                Thanks,

                Russell
