Thanks to everyone for all the information.  I am a total novice at this
and don't want to make a tremendous mistake.

I didn't want to call Comcast or Verizon before I had a clue as to
whether I could work with the connection accessibility-wise or not.  

So if I were to go with Comcast the company would come out and put in a
cable connection for my computer with assumably a modom?  Then if I
don't download or install any software, that would be it?  I understand
from what people are saying that I will need to go to the web site and
do some setting up?  

Is that all?
