I don't believe you can go wrong with a windows xp, home system. I always recommend getting more RAM. I presently use 1024mb of RAM.

Hello, Heidi,
Everyone has there own preferences, but I have found the AMD processors faster in using Jaws than the Intel systems. There is a technical reason for this and I do not feel confident to explain.

I use a Compaq with a 1800 NG processor and 512 mg of ram with the window XP home edition and am very satisfied.
It would be interesting to check with others who have used both intel and AMD processors to see which is more responsive with the the JAWS sscreen reader. In my case I've found the AMD processor superior.

I recently subscribed to the list and hope I'm not asking something that has
been asked a million times before, is too off topic, broad or inflamatory.
I currently have a Windows '98 system running JAWS 3.5. I know its old but
it has been a loyal and reliable friend. Anyways, its time for me to buy
new. I plan to buy the latest version of JAWS. What I am interested in
knowing is what make and model of computer are people using, what operating
systtem is being run, how easy or difficult it was to set up, whether the
company gives good support. Feel free to brag or complain.

Best Regards--
Heidi
