Brandon, It all gets down to how the keys are mapped in the Keyboard Manager file. If you look at the mappings, you'll see some that are duplicated using Insert or CapsLock with other keys, and then you will find some that are not. Not sure if this was intentional on FS's part, or just an oversight. I do know that the "Reply directly to sender" keystroke in Outlook Express is affected by this. I can't use the Insert+Shift+R on my laptop -- only the CapsLock+Shift+R works. So that's one that works in the other direction. Insert J does not work if you use caps lock J, only the key next to the delete will work as the insert for insert J. This is odd, but it's what it is. You need to press the actual insert key found besides the delete key on most laptop keyboards. Is there another command to bring up Jaws on the laptop lay-out? Now that's unnatural, requiring you to use the left index finger for a key otherwise pressed with the right hand. You'll notice I'm using the desktop layout. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mike & Barbara In Arcadia Sent: Tuesday, November 23, 2010 1:28 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: jaws key + windows key + F4 HI Dave; The way I invoke this keystroke is, right little finger on the Insert key, right thumb on the windows key, & press the F4 key with the left index finger. I have small hands so, I have to be creative with some keystrokes that should be part of that game called " Twister ." If you didn't notice anything, then perhaps you didn't actually hit the Windows key. I agree with you. Some of these keystrokes actually hurt my 58-year-old fingers. Using the insert key on the numpad, that's a really difficult stretch. In my perfect world, the jaws key would be in the middle of the keyboard right below the spacebar. I hate having to jump all the way over to the numpad with my right hand and frequently have to move my left hand out of position to cover a certain key, then have to move both hands back. Seems so inefficient... btw, what does this keystroke do? I tried it and heard my computer make a little sci-fi sound. Figured I'd better do it a second time to toggle it off, whatever it was.
