In the interest of recovery, You should insert a few steps to back up the
other JDF files first, before overwriting them -- just in case.

Yes, I think it is possible.
Here is what to do.
1. go into your start menu
2. go to programs and then go to the old version of jaws
3. go to explore jaws andthen to explore my settings
4. select all of the .jdf files that you want to copy
5. press control+c to copy them to the clipboard
6. press alt+f4
7. go back into your start menu
8. go to the new version of jaws
9. go to explore jaws and then to explore my settings
10. press control+v to paste the files
11. Say yess when you are asked if you want to replace the files.
12. restart jaws after the files have finished copying

I think you are asking if you can have the filename.JFD file located in
a
different folder? I think you cannot do this. JAWS looks for the file
in one
location only.
