?Dave, on word, the keystroke alt plus delete does spell the possition in inches relative of your possition and if the document is legal or letter. For example, if the monitor of my computer is 12 inches and the one on my house is 20 inches, jaws still tells me " 4. 25 plus 5.5 inches" if I am possition exactly on the middle of the page. The position reported with Alt+delete is in pixels, not inches. Interestingly enough, when writing this message and trying the keystroke occasionally, it always reported 0 and 1, etc. Don't know why it's not reporting changes in the position, but it works as advertised in other places. I'd forgotten about JAWS key-delete, which reports the line and column of the caret. This answers Hamid's question, but for the record, the position of the active cursor can be determined by pressing alt-delete. On my system, this key combination states the position from left and top edges in terms of inches. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Tom Lange Sent: Thursday, November 04, 2010 8:36 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: MS Word: How can I hear the text line and column? Hi folks, I especially need to know the column number the cursor is currently placed at (not in a table but in a text). Any key stroke? or anything else? Thanks, Hamid
