Didn't I hear there is an sdk for research it? Oh I see. not an sdk but; the
Research It Developer's Guide.
http://www.freedomscientific.com/downloads/JAWS/ResearchItGuide.asp

Perhaps this will provide some of the information you would like. Don't know
because I don't have the desire to scan it now.

  Adrian,

Yes, I think we should be allowed to know more about exactly what ResearchIt
is doing and what the web sources actually are.

  They sure don't seem bullet-proof.

    Dave,

If you're worried that FS is doomed to keep fixing Research It, which seems
likely, and hence to divert resources from its central mission, I share your
concern. Maybe FS could solve the problem permanently by sending us a list of
the websites it uses for each Research It category. Then, as another lister
said, we could add them to our favorites list and ignore Research It. As it
was, the ten-results a search limitation was already a shortcoming.

    Adrian,

While I agree that FS needs to keep up with Yahoo, I'm concerned about just
how ResearchIt was designed to work.

If it was set up to "find" information on particular web sites using our
input phrases, then I think we're doomed to having a broken ResearchIt most of
the time, and FS is doomed to providing sub-micro updates just to keep up with
the changes in web sites out there. I hope I'm terribly wrong about this
scenario, but not being an expert in creating the ResearchIt scripts, I don't
know how "fragile" they actually are.

The latest release of JAWS 11 was touted as handling Yahoo websites
better, and it does. Yahoo, which used to be JAWS friendly, had become suddenly
less so in the past year. So I do believe FS does need to keep updating JAWS as
the Internet evolves. I wish that were enough to keep FS sufficiently
profitable without adding the false lures of Research It and similar
distractions from its core functions.

Marvelous, and this is the big gee-whiz reason we're all supposed to
switch! This has to be the worst release ever.

      Hi,

I tried several locations and varied the syntax slightly; it still didn't
work. Even their example "Jackson, MS" didn't. Oh well.

I just tried that. There must be something wrong with that part of
ResearchIt. I didn't get any results, either.

Subject: Just joined, research it question

      Hello,

I just joined this list last night.

I just recently (this week) upgraded to Jaws 11.

If I enter research it and check weather (which is my primary setting)
all is well.

If I check time though by entering Nashville, TN. I get no time search
found or some such message, what could I be doing wrong.

I know the time in Nashville so started there first. (I'm in the same
time zone)

Nothing I enter in time search brings me any time info.

      Please help.

Have a blessed day, Stacey Robinson and GEB dog Chesley Eagleville,
Tennessee. staceyr75@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
