Didn't mean to imply that any person is paranoid, but rather to underscore the
sad fact that we need to act in a paranoid manner simply because of poor or
incomplete software design.
"An ounce of prevention..." and all that is a good thing, and if you must know
the shameful truth about me, well I confess that I do use JAWS 11 when I'm
going to be using my IP Phone and doing some work. Again too bad we all have to
take these extra steps, learned through the process of sweat and panic, at
times.
Again I step on to my soap box and say: "Remember JAWS users, that the letters
J A in JAWS were supposed to stand for Job Access"

I agree that problems like this should be brought to FS's attention, and the
more who do so, the merrier. But I shy away from your notion of paranoia.
People driving cars are urged to take a rest every two hundred miles. Hot
showers may go cold after an hour. Plants need to be watered every day in the
summer. So recharging JAWS once in a while isn't such bizarre behavior. Now
that I'm in the habit of shutting it down from time to time while I go put on
the kettle or make a call, it's become part of the day's rhythm. I estimate I
do so twice a day and Outlook 2003 once a day.

If you're using JAWS 12 then Insert+Spacebar, then release and press the
letter s. You will hear "speech off".
Repeat the keystroke to turn it back on.

No, you don't need 2 sound cards. I can offer you 2 clues in order to resolve
your problem: 1- Are you using a headphone? or the Jaws sound outputs via the
loud speakers. In the latter it is trivial that any sound in the environment,
including Jaws, is recorded via the mic. Otherwise: 2- Go to the control panel
> sounds and audio devices. Then control tab to the Audio tab. Tab until you
reach the sound recording volume button. There you can manipulate which devices
contribute to your recordings. This is for XP. There must be something similar
for Vista and seven also.

I have a built-in microphone on my Hp Pavilion Laptop.
A guy, I know, help me boost the volume, but when I record, the JAWS voice is
in the recording. Do I need two sound cards, or how can I solve the problem?
