You are fine, trust me, you are. You did *nothing* wrong, people
just didn't read their e-mail carefully and just went nuts.
Your original question was quite proper for the list, and you had
every right to ask the question. Don't get bogged down in
terms. We'll be here all day arguing about semantics, proper terms
to use if you do that.
I'll give you one final tip before we close this thread that started
out ok, but thanks to a lot of people not paying attention has become
quite rediculous. If you have problems reading the screen with
windows messenger, give msn messenger 7.5 a try. Like I said, you can
have both msn messenger 7.5 and Windows messenger installed and
running at the same time, assuming of course that you have 2
accounts, one for each one. You don't at the moment, but you might in
the future. I've found personally that msn messenger 7.5 may read
better with JAWS 7, so give that a try if Windows Messenger does not
work to your liking.

Hi Chris, thanks for sticking up for me, but you know, some of this confusion seems to have been my fault to begin with. I guess I was talking about text messaging, but sort of thought everybody also called it chat. I know they often do in other online places. So, as I say, maybe it's mostly my fault that there's been confusing stuff coming in about what I meant to be a basic question about Jaws-friendly instant messaging programs. I didn't even know that had anything to do with voice chat.

Yeah, no kidding.
Yardbird is a beginner to this whole text chat thing with JAWS and has enough problems trying to learn that without receiving all this other info. If you don't understand something, read it a couple times and if you don't understand what's being talked about, just ask. Saves everybody a whole lot of ttrouble.
