  Mike,

  I believe that Scroll Lock needs to be off.

  Strangely enough, I can't do anything with my Scroll Lock key. Regardless
of whether I've pressed it or not, my arrow keys continue to work just fine
in Excel.

  I've got to go and figure out if I have some sort of setting that disables
the Scroll Lock key. If I can find something relevant, I'll pass it along.

    Hi Dave;

    That may be the direction I'm heading! Especially since when I press
the scroll lock key just 1 time, Jaws isn't telling me what state it's in.
So, I don't know if it's locked or unlocked. Which brings me to another
question. To use Excel, should the scrol lock be locked or unlocked! All
advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much. Take care.

      Mike,

      That Scroll Lock would definitely be a problem. You use the KVM switch
to use the same keyboard, or the same monitor with two computers? IF the
keyboard, I'd personally elect to just have two keyboards and eliminate the
switch.

        Hi Dave;

        Thank you very much for your reply. The arrow keys don't move at
all but, I think the problem has been found. It was suggested to me by
Kurtis Potter, to check the state of the scroll lock key. The 1 thing I
didn't mention in my original post is that I use the scroll lock key to
switch between 2 computers, via a KVM switch. Well, since I press the
scroll lock button twice quickly to go back & forth between the 2 computers,
I can't hear the state of the scroll lock key. If I am having an Excel
keystroke issue & I switch over to the other computer & switch back, the
keystrokes start working again! Iguess I'll have to assign a different
keystroke for using the KVM switch. This may not be the only thing that
causes the arrow keys not to move so, if you have a different idea / reason
for my problem, please share. All help / ideas are gratefully accepted.
Thanks again, take care.

          Please elucidate on what you mean by "arrow keys do not work". How
do they not work? Are they actually not moving from cell-to-cell, or are you
not hearing anything?

            Hi All;

            Let me preface this by stating that I don't know sqwat about
Excel but, I am now attempting to learn. Here is my problem. When I open
a, .XLS file, my arrow keys don't work most of the time. I thought that
checking the box in the configuration manager for showing the virtual viewer
on screen , might have fixed the problem. Although, I don't have the
slightest idea what checking that box could have done! If I reboot the
computer and open an, .XLS file, then the arrow keys will work. I am
running XP Home, Office 2002 Home, & Jaws10 thru 12 latest. Would someone
please tell me what could be possibly wrong to make these arrow keys not
work correctly & consistently? I am using all the default settings, except
for that virtual viewer thing. All help will be desperately appreciated /
accepted. This arrow thing is driving me up a freaking wall & Doctor Phil
under his couch! Thanks much. Take care.
