Why did you have to upgrade?
Avast support on Tuesday ansered my question about its version 5 with the
following:
"Hello,
Unfortunately, the new version avast! 5 is not very "blind friendly". I hope
that it will be corrected in upcoming versions and I would recommend you to
use the version 4.8 in the meantime."

Hello!
I recently had to upgrade to Avast 5 from 4.0 because the earlier version
is not supported. This version seems inaccessible. Does anyone know a
way around this. Also, it is not updating the virus database
automatically, nor announcing the updates it does do. Would appreciate
help.
