Auto Forms Mode

Hi
Can anybody explain to me why I dont enter auto forms mode the first
time i log onto the internet.
I use Google accessible for my home page and I always land in the
search edit box and am prompted to press enter for forms mode.
However when i return to this page auto forms work. i believe i have
all the relevant settings right.
