Hi. I agree. Why install another web browser just for one web site?

Hi. It's because Window-eyes uses a different method of doing the same thing JAWS does, it's just like taking a different set of directions to arrive at the same location if you will. Window-eyes's method works, whereas JAWS's doesn't work.
2 things need to happen here.
1. Amazon needs to either go back to the way they were before all this mess started, or make other modifications so that JAWS users can access the site just as easily.
and 2. FS needs to figure out where JAWS is dropping the ball and make sure that it recognizes whatever code change happened on the site so that not only will Amazon work again, but if other sites make this change, they'll also be able to be accessed without difficulties.
Right now, FS recommends the use of Firefox to access Amazon, but a lot of people aren't just going to do this, firstly because the version of Firefox with accessibility built in is a beta, and secondly, people aren't going to install another web browser simply so they can access one website.
So really, both companies, that being Amazon, and FS need to do something.

Hi there. I'm with Chris.
I don't think this is a JFW issue, rather it's an Amazon issue.

I have had absolutely no problems whatsoever with JAWS 7, and I'm even using a dectalk express. When I change the punctuation, it works just fine. As for this Amazon thing, how could the beta testers have known? Let's really sit back and think about this for a second. The problems we are all having with Amazon started last week. JAWS 7.0 was released in October, long before any of this started. So the beta testers couldn't have known that this was happening, because the problem never existed while the program was in beta. and furthermore, the program, according to FS, was in beta for over 2 months. This is enough time to squash any *major* bugs that may be out there. Every computer system acts differently, and I suspect that some computer systems are set up by people in rehab who have absolutely no clue what they're doing, or people get these computers, turn them on, and when they aren't configured for optomal JAWS use, they blame FS for having a buggy program. No matter how you slice it folks, no software is completely bug free. That is just the nature of it since these programs are created by human beings, whose nature is to also be imperfect. So if your system acts funny when using JAWS, go back and check to make sure you have everything set up properly. The JAWS help system has specific instructions as to how to do this. Take advantage of this resource and I bet ya a bunch of the problems people are having will go away.
