Thanks for the information.

It occurs that most of the information provided on this list can be gotten
through other means -- by reading the FS (or other manuals). A key
objective of such lists is to eliminate the need to waste time pouring
through lots of documentation just to answer a few simple questions; answers
that some lister might know and want to share. So, not wishing to become an
expert on JAWS Tandem, I chose not to read the FS manuals, and saved much
time by just asking. Again, thanks for your assistance. You're such a good
sport.

No. that is impossible. Tandem requires the target machine to have a user
authorize access. Read the material provided by FS on these matters.

But what if no one is sitting at the remote (passive) machine? Can you use
Tandem in this instance?

Hi,

If you look at the information on the FS site, or if you've heard the
explanations given on the FS podcasts, you'll discover that although there's

a quarterly fee for using Jaws tandem regularly, each Jaws customer is
allowed a certain number of hours monthly or quarterly (I forget the
details, sorry) to use it free of charge. As the control person, that is,
whatever the proper expression is. For the person on the passive end, the
one who doesn't initiate the connection nor control it, I'm pretty sure it's

always free.

Well, you may not want to use JAWS in remote access if you cannot afford the
JAWS Remote Access License add-on. I think the cost of this ($150 - $300)
is a bit steep personally.

I use JAWS all the time and have the demonstration of 10 on my laptop. Why
would you not want to use it? JAWS is the best I think, followed by hal and
window eyes if I have to.
