Adobe Digital Book Reader

Anyone had any experience with the Adobe Digital Book Reader. This is
apparently not the same thing as good old crapy Acrobat; it is much worse.
Interestingly, it has a search box, and JAWS reads that; however, outside the
text box, JAWS says page is empty. Very strange.
I've had JAWS say the document is empty, which usually means the PDF document
is a scanned image.
This appears to be a mixed document, which is to say that it must contain some
kind of searchable text, but its display must be graphical somehow.
Anyway, I needed this book today, and this was the only format (other than
print). Darned thing cost $83 too.
