This is only present if the PDF was not scanned in, but was created by a software package directly (equivalent to "save as pdf"). Not all pdf files are created this way, so they cannot be saved as text, they can only be ocr'ed. ------------------------------ Chip Orange Database Administrator Florida Public Service Commission Chip.Orange@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (850) 413-6314 (Any opinions expressed are solely those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of the Florida Public Service Commission.) ________________________________ From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Barbara Sent: Saturday, January 19, 2008 12:59 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: Adobe Look under the File menu for a Save To Text option. I've had a sighted user view my screen & they say the text is on the screen but all my computer speaks to me is Spaces & occasionally a numeric #. Is there some setting in JAWS or Adobe I need to set or change? Thanks, by the way I use Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Reader.
