Folks,
It's come to my attention that one or two people on the list may have had
just a bit too much of a reaction to yesterday's antics. Specificly,
related to a certain nonexistent hidden JAWS command for revealing
captchas. I've fielded a couple emails off-list from these said
individuals, some of which called for this person's outright removal from
the list. Just in case there are any other notions of such a thing
happening, I'll go ahead and set the record straight on that right now. No
one's getting drop kicked over a joke, least of all one that ended up
doing no actual damage, that took place on a day widely recognised as
being reserved for jokes of said nature. Excusing the fact that a small
handful of people decided to spend half an hour or more looking for a
feature that would presumedly ordinarily not be hidden due to its overall
importance, which was by their own admission entirely their choice, the
joke-and it was, in fact, a joke-had no undesireable consequences.
Therefore, a small handful of people's bordering on hostile reactions
notwithstanding, there was no actual violation of list policy here.
Therefore, there will be no administrative action against the person in
question on this matter. Nor, in my opinion, should there be due to, once
again, the nature of the prank in question. If you have any questions or
complaints regarding this matter, please bring them to the admins'
attention off-list. Thank you.
