Hi,

Maybe I wasn't clear. I meant to say that I have no other such download time
experience as I do with LavaSoft, believe me. Only this morning, I was
downloading a hefty program file from FS and the rate was about 7 times
faster than that, you see? It may depend what time of day you download from
that link, or how busy the server is, but as I said, this is always slow for
me, especially the past few months. Again, I don't have any download
experience anywhere near that piddling transfer rate. That isn't anything to
do with my DSL connection, believe me.

Hope that's more clear.

Hi Matthew,

I'm in the process of downloading this update file at the moment, and the
download is creeping along even more slowly than it already was during the
last few months of last year, which was painfully slow to begin with. Now
it's at a rate of 1.65 Kb/sec, on my perfectly good DSL connection. I
suppose it will either speed up a little after a while, as used to happen a
few months ago, or it'll just keep creeping along and finish up sometimes
around suppertime here on Pacific Time.

I wonder. They didn't say anything in this note to you about it, but if we
keep this email for reference, will that URL remain good for all coming
updates, or will we have to write in an be given a new download URL every
time we feel like seeing if there's an update? Do you know?

Arghh. Glad I installed Windows Defender, at least. But I'm still curious to
know what AdAware will pick up.

Hello Matthew,

Please accept our sincere apologies for delays on developing our new product
so that it is compatible with your needs. As you know, we are addressing the
issue this year.

In the meantime, you are welcome to continue to use Ad-Aware SE Personal for
as long as we are able to provide updates to Ad-Aware SE's threat database.
Lavasoft plans to continue to provide updates to the Ad-Aware SE threat
database well into this year.

In order to continue to keep Ad-Aware SE Personal updated, you will need to
perform manual updates when new Definitions Files are released. Here are the
instructions for performing a manual update for Ad-Aware SE:

- Close Ad-Aware SE.
- Download the latest Definitions File in ZIP format here
http://download.lavasoft.com/public/defs.zip and save the file to a
temporary location.
- Unzip the contents of the file either with a ZIP utility or with the
built-in support in Windows to the Ad-Aware SE installation directory, which
usually is "C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE\".
- Open Ad-Aware SE.
- Confirm that the latest Definitions File is installed by checking the
"Initialization Status" in the main program window.

Best regards,

Erin Earley
