Curtis,
I'm partially sighted and have always been aware that the program's
interface isn't filling the screen when it comes up. I've never even
thought of maximizing it, because it used to work with older version and
scripts (104.1) precisely as described in the instructions on JFW Lite.

But your message below made me curious about this variable, so I launched
AdAware and then pressed alt shift x and made it fill my screen. Then I
tried to proceed. But under this situation, though I could tab around and
hear most of the controls spoken, the scan couldn't be started either by
activating the scan now button (when I pressed the space bar, and even tried
Enter, nothing at all happened)nor by pressing control S. So maximizing it
seems to have been disabling.

I don't understand the implications, for lack of technical expertise. But
hope this is interesting.
is not

I wonder if the script made sure that add aware was maximized? If
that might do the trick?
