I didn't start out with a premise that spyware invariably enters a system via cookies. However, I regularly delete cookies because I'm on the Net a lot, I receive way too many cookies, and they impede performance. I happened to notice that whenever I ran AdAware after deleting cookies, no spyware was reported. By contrast, if I ran AdAware before deleting cookies, invariably there were several hits.

I'm well aware that coincidence doesn't prove cause and effect, but friends have reported a similar experience. so I ask the question, out of genuine curiosity. Of course, if deleting cookies makes AdAware superfluous, so much the better if the provider is, indeed, about to ignore its accessibility responsibilities.

Is C Cleaner an anti spyware program, too? I'm surprised we never hear it mentioned on the mailing lists. Where do you find it? Can anyone else attest to its quality?

Thanks.

Also, I may be thick, but what is the meaning of the scenario where you delete cookies for some strategic reason I'm not familiar with, and then run an anti spyware program? What do those two things have to do with one another? Why would you expect an anti spyware program to turn up spyware once you've deleted some cookies from your cookies folder? I hope my question is clear.

Thank you very much.

actually this is interesting. i use c cleaner and every time i run it i'll run adaware and adaware never finds anything after c cleaner. i think i'm just going to dump adaware. c cleaner works great right out of the box. you don't need scripts for it and it does multiple functions.just my 2 cents worth.

I have a question about AdAware. Any time I delete all cookies, except those needed to give me quick access to certain websites, AdAware finds nothing suspicious on my system. Others have reported the same experience. Has anyone on this list found that AdAware identifies anything harmful after cookies have been deleted? If not, the loss of AdAware accessibility may not be such a bad thing.

I've used Ad Aware for years and have liked it. But, if we won't be able to use 2007 and the current version won't be supported after December 31, can anyone suggest a comparable program, which works well with JAWS?
