I'm using JAWS 8 and IE 7 and I don't have any of those problems, so I don't think it's specifically either an IE or JAWS problem. It might be due to a specific setting, although what, I have no clue, or something to do with the computer itself. I have XP Home, and like I said, JAWS 8 and IE 7, and don't have that problem. When you've done this, open the same email and see if you can get to the link the old way. Have your wife present to give you any visual info. If this doesn't work, try uninstalling Jaws 8 and go back to Jaws 7 or 7.10 and try the link again and see what happens. I suggest these steps because I haven't yet purchased Jaws 8, and I'm wondering whether your problem is caused by Jaws 8 or IE 7. It would also be interesting to know if others on the list are experiencing this problem. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert Hebert" <roberthebert@xxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, December 28, 2006 1:16 PM Subject: Activating a link while in an open message Possibly after the installation of I/E 7, I am no longer able to connect to a website through a link in an open e-mail message. Html mode is checked and when I click on a link by pressing enter, the hard drive moves and it appears as if the website is trying to open but after about 5 seconds I am still in the e-mail with the cursor positioned on the link. I have found a work-around for this problem as follows: I route jaws to PC and do a double left mouse click and the link functions correctly by opening the appropriate website. I miss the ability to not simply be able to click on a link to go the desired website. On the screen my wife tells me that a little square of dotted lines forms around the link to be opened and the little hand disappears. This of course means nothing to me or to her but I provide this tidbit of info just in case it means something to somebody as an explanation of what may be happening here. I have spoken with some teckie folks and they too have been stimied by this one so if anyone on the list has any ideas, they would be very much appreciated.
