Well, except in the case of notepad this particular feature is in fact
documented, at least as of XP.  I don't have easy access to any
earlier versions at this point to see if it was ever there but not
documented.

Notepad is such a simple program I just never had reason to look at
the help before reading about this particular feature.  And I only
looked then to see if there were any other such features.
