Super Antispyware is for spyware and malware. The question is addressed here
http://forums.superantispyware.com/index.php?/topic/3870-avg/?s=7860c16b47aedc838e283cb69145e370#j_content

It is not an antivirus program. Also the behavior of shutting down your
computer is inconsistent with how mine behaves. I have it to scan once a day
and in 10 minutes it ferrets out all the malware and eliminates them with no
drastic interruption.

Yes, the last paid version of AVG I had was awful also. It missed two
Trojans. I am using Super Anti Spyware Professional now, and am very happy.
If it sees a file it doesn't like, it shuts down the computer and gets rid of
it.

  Alan,

I thought that AVG had discontinued the free version fairly recently. This is
why I went to MSE.

The last time we tried to update AVG we had an awful time as we used to have
a paid version and AVG would not allow us to go back to the free edition.

The paid version was not nearly as friendly as the free one and the last
version of the paid version we had was simply awful.

  Ted,

No, grissoftfree.com is not a working Internet address. Okay folks, can
somebody please provide a good address that actually leads to a download link
for the free version of AVG?

  Alan
