Are you also using it to scan your email for Spam?

If so this will slow the downloading of email.

You can adjust this feature to speed up the email download but more Spam email
will get through.

Oh I'm sorry Robert. I did have that message and forgive me for getting ahead
of myself thinking I had to do something else.
I appreciate your help.

I outlined them in my original message, but here they are again.

In AVG, tab to control system and hit the space bar.

Tab to the list menu and arrow to e-mail scanner.

Tab to properties and hit enter.

Tab to configure and hit enter.

Tab to certify e-mail and uncheck it (I believe it is the third tab).

  Tab to okay

This will not turn off e-mail checking, but it will turn off the message that
AVG is checking the e-mail. Thus, you are still protected.

  Robert

I don't want to turn off any protection but want to get everything to run in
the background without interference.

Do you have the steps to do this?

  Thanks

  Barbara

Yes, only it does not confirm each e-mail message. If you wish to turn off
protection you can do that as well, but that is a separate option.

So if you turn this feature off do you still get protection? I have the
paid version of AVG and am disappointed and annoyed at the interference this
program causes while I read e-mail, work and try to use my computer. When
e-mail is being scanned I cannot read my other mail. If I am working I get all
the messages that it is updating or scanning and I cannot continue until I
press okay or close. So maybe there is also a place to check to have it run in
the background instead of interfering with everything else. Anyone know?

    Thanks

    Barbara

      Yes.

In AVG, go to control system and hit the space bar.

Tab to the list menu and arrow to e-mail scanner.

Tab to properties and activate it.

Tab to configure and activate it.

Tab to turn on notification (or something like that) and uncheck it (I
believe it is the second tab).

      Tab to okay

Is there any way to shut off the notice

No virus found in this incoming message.
      Checked by AVG Free Edition.
      Version: 7.5.484 / Virus Database: 269.13.3/986 - Release Date: 9/3/2007

Which appears at the end of incoming E-mails? I'm using the free version
and thought I had E-mail scanning turned off. Thank you.
