The messages reads something like the components are out of date and to please pay urgent attention to this matter. However, the AVG is doing its updating and scanning or whatever it does when I have it set to do so. I have been told that this is the way of the free version of AVG and not to worry about it.

Jane,

which error message are you referring to?

My thought on the subject of AVG vs. AVAST is that AVG is the only
anti-virus program that processes and protects your computer from the web
page, link or results, etc. as soon as they are clicked on. Wouldn't this
seem to be the most advantageous program? I use the AVG free edition, and
grant it, I get annoyed with the constant error message.
