Got this from someone on this list. AdAware can still be updated. I'll provide the link after this message. You just click on the link, direct the download to the folder where your AdAware program files are (probably c:\program files\lavasoft\AdAware personal), then unzip it from there so its contents stay in that same folder. Then you launch AdAware and it should recognize and incorporate the new definitions. If something doesn't work right for you, ask on the list and someone will know how to help. But it might simply work, as it has for me. Now here's the download link. If you wish to do this, please file this email, or at least a record of the link, somewhere you can find it again in a couple of weeks when you next think of updating. Good luck. <http://download.lavasoft.com/public/defs.zip> http://download.lavasoft.com/public/defs.zip _____ From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mike Mote Sent: Saturday, April 05, 2008 10:42 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: A message on my machine. Robert _____ From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mike Mote Sent: Saturday, April 05, 2008 10:02 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: A message on my machine. Hi folks. This is related to jaws, in a way. I have had a recent virus attack on my computer, and have spent the last two weeks trying to rid my machine of those. I have pretty much done that, except for one message that i see on the bottom of my brouser page. Near the bottom, there's a message that says, "Warning: possible spyware or adware infection! Click here to scan your computer for spyware and adware.) I get this on the bottom of every web page. Can't get rid of it, no matter how many times I scan for spyware. I'm using Addaware 1.06. I understand Addaware 2007 does not work with jaws, right? Assuming, that's the case, what spyware program works best with jaws? Which one would be the best to use. I'm currently running, Windows Defender, and Avast for my virus protection. I was running Trend Micro, but haven't had any success getting rid of the viruses with it. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry, if this is a little off topic, but I'm just trying to rid my computer of all of the problems. Thanks!
