Thanks. There doesn't seem much point in getting it so I will forgo it.
Thanks for the summary of what the hell it is though. My windows is
legit as it was preinstalled on my computer which is a dell.

If you have a legitimate copy of windows XP, it won't cause you any
problem
at all. Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications notifies you if a copy
of
Microsoft Windows XP is not genuine. The notification messages only
appear
on computers that have failed the Windows Genuine Advantage validation
process and that are running a copy of Windows XP that is not genuine.
If
you are running a validated, genuine copy of Windows XP, you will not
receive notification messages.
So you don't have to download the update, but it won't hurt anything.

Subject: A Windows Update

Hi all, I started up mystem today and the windows feature of it told me
there was a Windows Genuine Advantage Notification tool available for
install. I am not sure if getting this update is a good idea as it
doesn’t seem necessary to me and it might cause a problem. I was
wondering if any of you ever came across this and could advise as what
to do.
