Robert, no need to get sarcastic. You didn't say originally that Jaws had actually said "menu bar." I thought the first person who responded to you suggested that that's what it was. Sorry. Now please, don't get in a snit. I'm sorry I didn't know this. And I still never heard of a floating Windows program menu bar. So I truly hope someone can explain this who knows. Which version of Word are you using? I thought if Microsoft labeled it "Menu Bar" that I would be safe in calling it a "menu Bar." Guess I must be wrong. The menu bar in Word is not a floating bar. It is not a tool bar, in other words. It's a standard Windows-style menu bar that is always at the top of the screen, just like the menu bar of Outlook express or Windows Explorer (or Internet Explorer, for that matter). That said, there *can* be a problem with floating *tool bars* in Word, and those tool bars need to be docked for the Jaws user. But a tool bar doesn't read across like a series of standard Windows menus. So at least to me, it's not clear what you're encountering in the middle of your screen. And, if by some chance, there is some kind of tool bar that looks like a menu bar, I apologize. but I'm an old PC user, very familiar with these programs, and could still see these things until around five or six years ago. I can still see the screen, but can no longer read the text or see the details, due to lack of photoreceptior cells in my central (macular) retinal area,, which of course is why I use Jaws. But again, so far as I know, floating tool bars just contain select groups of icons for activating groups of related functions that you use often and want to keep handy, rather than being like a program menu that won't stay put. Hope this helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert McCoy" <rmccoy@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, February 28, 2006 12:28 AM Subject: RE: A Jfw and Microsoft Word Problem I experience the same thing, there is a menu bar in the middle of the window. Use the jaws cursor and find the menu, on the M of menu bar, left click twice and it will go away. I can not dock the menu bar permanently and am not sure what happened that this started recently. I have checked every setting I know to. This is interfering with my documents. It doesn't print this out, but it still make things quite confusing.
